Your body is your first home.
It is the place you will live the longest, the longest relationship you will have.

The Home Body mission is to offer integrated practices and experiences that invite and support clients into deeper connection with their body home.
Your body is your first home. It is the place where you will live the longest, the longest relationship you will have.
More than a place, Home is a feeling. It is warm and welcoming. Like a hug from trusted soul, Home cocoons us in safe embrace and encourages us when we doubt ourselves. It houses the mundane and the sacred. It is where we tend to our basic needs and to those of cherished loved ones. Home is where we host celebrations and remembrances, where we gather meaningful items and build our life, with our body at the center.
Listening to the body is a homecoming. Standing in open invitation, this return greets you at the welcome mat of your own inner knowing. Your body knows you. It knows what you need. No matter how disconnected you may feel, your body is a standing invite to come home to connection — keys in your pocket, nourishment in the cupboards, a safe place to rest your head.
Like all homes, your body requires consistent maintenance and care. Tidy living spaces impart a feeling of ease and calm. We feel this in our houses, where organization leaves us feeling free, clear, and centered. This holds true for our internal environment. Joints, minds and hearts need the opportunity to process and declutter, just as we would our closets, cupboards, and pantries. Organized movement somaticizes this phenomenon so we can embody it beyond our physical experiences.
How does movement help us do this? Just like a home, sometimes we need renovation. We tear down walls and wiring, and build a new more efficient system. Optimal movement practiced consistently over time does just this: creating new neural pathways, new wiring, to forge efficient communication and expand capacity through better organization. This organization yields clarity, not only around our physical needs, but what we accept in our emotional life and relationships, as well as our purpose.
Furthermore, our bodies are designed to be dynamic throughout our lives. We are little hydroelectric bundles of elastic energy, charged by the Earth and the Sun. We have a tall strong core and large ball and socket joints, full of support from intelligent muscles that are eager to move us through the range of our existence. Connecting deeply to the functionality of our system and learning to understand its communications, closes the feedback loop. This builds confidence and resources our innate support, producing that most important adaptation — resilience.
Resilient beings survive and overcome. They thrive beyond disappointment and despair to make their own luck and place in the world. Through adaptability, resilience cultivates longevity. Our body is designed to be there over the course our entire lifetime — to carry us proudly, yet nimbly, through the load of our life. The good news is this potential is already yours. You were built for it, designed for it. It is your birth right. It’s a matter of removing noise and restrictions to connect to what is already there — y o u.
A B O U T L I Z
Hi there! I’m Liz. Home Body is my small business. I have been teaching yoga since 2014. Over the years, my style has evolved. My classes are intelligent and intentional, both physical and cerebral. I am inspired by the exquisite functionality of the human body and considering our thread in the fabric of nature. Methodologically, the most formative studentship of my career has been my time studying under Lara Heimann. Lara is an internationally recognized physical therapist and yoga teacher who pioneered a technique that blends yoga, physical therapy, and functional movement. I have seen many times over how good movement can be transformative, and I believe everyone deserves to feel comfortable, confident, and joyful in their body.
In group class, you can expect to be both supported and challenged. I am a teacher, so you can also expect to be thoughtfully prepared and instructed in the how’s and why’s of what we are working on. My goal is to share knowledge to empower you to better understand your body, while providing the opportunity for you to connect more deeply with yourself through bodily experiences and exploration. My work has grown my belief in the impact of whole-person health, and how it intersects with the health of our Earth collective. The more curiosity and compassion we direct within, the more we can extend out to include and heal divide.
Outside of the studio, I enjoy gardening, being involved in local agriculture and conservation, making things from scratch or with my hands, arranging flowers, and learning new skills. I have dear pets, close family, and amazing friends! I love living near the water and traveling to far away shores. While, I always relish the sweetness of coming home, I have learned that wherever I am, I am home, because I am home in my body. The deeper I connect within the further, and more confidently, I can venture out. I want the same for you.
xoxo
